The farmstead is set in L'Age a small farming hamlet on the borders of the départment of La Haute Vienne (87), la Charente (16) and La Dordogne (24) in a locality known as Le Pays des Feuillardiers (the country of the woodcutters). This pretty area has extensive chestnut woods interspersed with many small lakes.

The Cledier is another of our attractive properties in an independent setting on the outskirts of the hamlet of L'Age. The stone building would have originally been used as a chestnut-drying house up until the turn of the 19th century when chestnuts were a staple food in the area. The property is now converted into a picturesque gite providing accommodation for two people. It comprises an airy living room with corner kitchen.

There is a double bedroom surrounded by a mezzanine with divan, and a wc/shower room. There is a wood pellet stove plus central heating. Double entrance doors lead onto a raised terrace ideal for 'al fresco' eating, and below is a large garden surrounded by ancient majestic elm trees now a rarity in europe.

The Cldier is well equipped with china, glassware and cooking utensils, garden furniture and barbecue. There is a DVD player. Bed-linen, bathroom and pool towels and tea towels, heating and electricity are included in the price. A washing machine is available. Winter and Christmas lets possible. The nearest international airport and car hire are in Limoges, 40 minutes from us. There are low cost direct flights with Ryanair to Limoges from Stanstead, Newcastle and Liverpool and with Flybe, Southampton - Limoges direct.
