The Mas de L'Elze is a rambling collection of old stone buildings, clinging to a sun-drenched, south facing slope on the edge of the Ardechois Cevennes. In the past, these buildings served a multitude of purposes typical of the local countryside: a silk-worm loft, a drying and smoking area for chestnuts, a barn for storing hay and raising geese and ducks for the "gavage". Now, they have been painstakingly and lovingly transformed into a set of completely independent luxury houses, from which you can fully appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding countryside.

There are three gites at L'Elze. Two - La Clede and La Magnanerie - are small, open plan houses for 2/4 and 2/3 people respectively, while the third - La Grange, is a larger house which sleeps 6/8. All are completely independent and have private terrasses for al freso dining. For large groups it is always possible to rent a number of the gites together. All houses share a large 15x5m swimming pool and jacuzzi and gym. The gym features a treadmill, cross-trainer, bike, stepper and rower and, for the really masochistic, a multi-gym weights machine.

We have an organic vegetable garden so fresh produce is always available. In addition, we provide evening meals when required - can be very good on the night that you arrive.
La Clede is the second of our houses providing comfortable accommodation for 2/4 people. It has a floor area of approximately 55m2 It was originally used to dry chestnuts; a fire was lit on the ground floor which heated the chestnuts on the floor above. Now, the sleeping area is found on this floor with a double and 2 single beds. There is a lounge/diner, an open-plan kitchen and shower room underneath.Outside, there is a sheltered, south-facing private terrace under one of the chestnut trees that supplied La Clede with its raw material.

20% deposit payable on reservation. The balance is payable during your stay.

Deposit is forfeit if cancellation is within 6 weeks of holiday dates.
