Chateau Haut Garrigue has been a wine estate for centuries. The date etched above the cellar and original buildings is 1737 and some walls date to 700 AD. Our families were both involved in the wine business generations ago: Seán's grandfather owned and farmed a vineyard in South Africa. Caroline's grandmother was a French descended from the Galway Frenchs, one of the 14 merchant families of Galway alongside illustrious names of Lynch and Kirwan - both famous wine geese. The French tribe moved from Normandy in France to Galway to import wine in the 1300s and Frenchs are noted as significant wine negociants in Bordeaux in the golden era.

In 2005 we followed our roots to pursue our dream of producing great wines from high-quality individual parcels on our limestone terroir. We invite you to discover more about our wines, our luxury eco cottages, our vine share or shop online for wine. Then visit us at Chateau Haut Garrigue to taste our wine, do a tour, enjoy a wine and food pairing lunch, picnic or stay awhile. A bientot!

WINE COTTAGE: The Wine Cottage is separate to the main house on the opposite side of the courtyard looking up the valley of Saussignac. It has 2 luxury en suite bedrooms and a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Fully equipped, luxuriously furnished and ecologically constructed: this is the ideal place for a romantic getaway and to indulge your love of wine.

Underfloor heating throughout makes this a wonderful out of season escapade. Poplar panneling on the ceilings, high ceilings and natural materials add to the feeling of space and luxury.

We look forward to welcoming you in this magical space. This delightful self catering gite in the Dordogne is wheelchair accessible.

THE GRAPE ESCAPE: The Grape Escape sleeps 2 to 4 people. It is semi-detached from the main farmhouse facing onto the courtyard on one side and onto the vines on the two sides built out over the vineyard (scroll to the bottom for a photo). The grand room has five large double windows looking out over the vineyards and a forested valley. It accommodates a generous seating area furnished with comfortable sofa and chairs and a separate king-size (or single depending on the number of guests) bed.

The second bedroom is furnished with a king-size double bed (which can be changed to two single beds if required) and a set of drawers. A very large bathroom (10m2 with bath, stand-alone shower, WC, basin and views) and a walk-in cupboard/ utility room complete the accommodation.

A paved and shaded terrace, furnished with garden table, chairs, sun-loungers, umbrella and barbeque leads into a spacious french-country kitchen and living area fitted with modern cupboards, new appliances (dishwasher, large fridge-freezer, cooker, washing machine) breakfast nook and separate dining table.

5,5% VAT is included in the Wine Cottage rates. Breakfast €5 per person and cleaning €15 (1 hour) available daily. Please make sure you book ahead if you do wish to avail of these services.

B&B rate per room en suite of €95 per night (minimum 2 nights) October to June. For out of season and out of Sat to Sat weekly rentals we offer the suites of the Wine Cottage: the Quarry room and the Courtyard room, as independent units.

Cleaning at the end of your stay (€30 for 2 hours) arranged on request. Please no smoking inside. Please note that we are a working organic vineyard and winery. During harvest season (Sep/Oct) there may be an early morning with harvest activity in the courtyard (four mornings over the full period so you may experience one or you may not experience any). We request a €200 booking deposit per week and the balance on arrival. Deposits can be paid by euro cheque or by credit card.
