Gourgé is situated in the Deux Sèrves Department, Poitou-Charantes Region. It is one of the most historical and picturesque regions of France. It is well know for its cultured walking and cycling trails along the Thouet Valley, also for the fabulous goat's cheeses that are made in the district.

Au Pont , with its original exterior is a pre-Nepoleonic building, which for many years operated as a Bar. Situtated on the riverbank of the Thouet River, with a Medieval Water Mill and Weir on one side, and an 11th Century Romanesque Bridge on the other. It offers one acre of beautiful gardens, sporting activities and private river frontage to enjoy.

The scenic walk into the village of Gourgé takes 10mins, and there you will find the bakery, local store, restaurant and one of the oldest Churches in France. Les Sentiers de Gourgé (the 5 mapped walking/cycling trails), are a well known activity due to the scenic and historic paths they follow.

Peter and Donna, the Australian owners, reside in Gourgé for ten months of the year, so they will ensure that your stay with them will be one to remember. In their absence, an English/French speaking neighbour will assist you. There are also brouches on places of interest, activities and theme parks in the house, for you to peruse.

The closest airport and train station is in the city of Poitiers, which is a 50 minute drive by car. In addition there are other airports at La Rochelle, Nantes, Limoges and Tours.

If you are travelling by train from Paris (TGV) it takes 1.5 hours

• Booking deposit is 50% of the total amount • Balance of payment is 60 days before holiday date • Security deposit of 150 euros can be paid upon arrival, and will be refunded after inspection of the property • Winter heating is 60 euros per week • Fire place timber for the first night is complimentary, and then available for purchase • Overnight accommodation is based on availability. Nightly rate is for 1 bedroom and 2 people, with access to all house facilities. • Medium-term rentals are available and pricing is calculated on the length of stay. Payment can be made by Direct Deposit and by Credit Card through PayPal. Once a deposit is received a Booking Confirmation will be sent to you.

• For cancellations more than 90 days prior to arrival there is a fee of 150 euros. • There are no refunds for cancellations less than 60 days prior to arrival.

• Smoking - Smoking is not permitted inside the house. Smoking is permitted in the garden areas. • Pets - Some small pets will be considered. Please discuss with the owner.
